I’m a male member. A woman who joined in July and whom I recently went on a date with said during our conversation that this was her first date. But she has four stars. Is it possible to have four stars without going on any dates? Or was she lying to make herself seem new? If she was lying, would it be better to avoid someone who lies from the very first meeting? Does this kind of lie even count as a lie?

At a dating club, you’re the smallest of all for worrying about such a minor pretext. Akari

I’m Dai, a male member. Some women answer honestly when asked how many dates they’ve had, while others lie or give vague answers. I think it’s fine to use it as just one factor when deciding whether to continue seeing someone. I ask too, but it’s really just a conversation starter. So even if she lies about how many dates she’s had, that alone wouldn’t be a reason for me to cut ties.

I’m Kazu, a male member. > If it’s a lie, should I avoid a girl who lies right from the first meeting? If it were me, I’d ask the staff about what she said at the beginning and verify it. If I found out she had lied, I’d probably be disappointed. Whether I’d avoid her or not would depend on the overall situation. > Does this kind of lie really count as lying? Since it doesn’t put anyone at a disadvantage, I don’t think it really counts as a lie. That said, I’m not impressed by people who lie thoughtlessly—even when it’s something that could hardly be called a lie. When I ask about something they don’t want to talk about, I prefer women who will simply say they’d rather not answer, dodge the question, or tell an obviously unbelievable lie so I can tell they’re joking. If they lied about something more serious, I’d understand that they had their reasons for wanting to lie, so I’d let it slide.

I’m Flag Maker, a columnist. It’s probably a lie. And a lie is still a lie. A lie is nothing more than a lie. Just a lie. But you shouldn’t judge things based only on what you can see. Try thinking about what might be behind her saying, “This is my first date.” What you’ll find is a woman being considerate because she wants to make a good impression on the man in front of her—or trying her best to make him happy. Turn a blind eye to the lie and acknowledge her thoughtfulness. Rather than simply judging the food you’re served as delicious or terrible, isn’t there more depth in considering the chef’s feelings and intentions behind making it, and evaluating it with that in mind? Now, imagine that after the two of you grow closer, she one day confesses on her own: “I lied because I wanted you to like me. Actually, I’d already received several offers. I’m sorry for lying…” Doesn’t that make you drool?

It’s me. Even if you managed to find out whether there was a lie involved, what would you gain from it? If you’re enjoying the date, whether it’s her first date or not doesn’t change the enjoyment by even 1 mm. If it was a lie told out of consideration for the man, I’d honestly be happy to be fooled. Maybe she thought saying, “This is my first date,” would make you enjoy yourself more. Or, conversely, maybe she thought, “Is he the kind of small-minded man who’d get upset if I told him it wasn’t my first date?” The fact that she received four stars probably means the staff consider her “a woman who’s considerate toward men.” I think Universe Club is also a world where you’re meant to enjoy the fiction. After all, you’re both seeing each other under club names to begin with. Otherwise, you’d have to say, “Wait, even the names are lies!”

Maezawa from Shacho-shitsu here as well. Basically, everyone starts with three stars, but if she made a really good impression during the interview, I believe it could be raised to four stars. Of course, there’s a chance she was lying, but why worry about that? Do you really want to keep paying Universe more and more setting fees over something so trivial? Isn’t that kind of detail beside the point? Asking something like that is rude. How would you feel if, when applying for a new job, you were asked: “How many women have you been intimate with?” You’d probably wonder, “Why are they asking me that?” Women feel the same way. Don’t focus on things like that. Look at who she really is, and prioritize whether she’s someone you genuinely want to spend time with. A lie like that doesn’t even really count as a lie.
