I also used to cover my mouth whenever I laughed because of my crooked teeth.
I once heard that, in psychology, covering your mouth is considered a sign that someone is lying. Haha.
People may say things like, “Why spend so much money fixing your teeth?” and so on, but I’ve actually been approached and received offers, so you really don’t need to worry about it!
Everyone has different preferences, so if you just accept that this person happens to think that way, it may help you avoid getting upset.

Only Japanese people think snaggletooth is cute. Straight teeth are definitely better.
That said, I can see where Paper Airplane is coming from.

I can understand how you feel, at least a little. I personally like slightly crooked canine teeth, like Airi Suzuki’s, and one girl I was seeing saved up money through papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) and her own hard work to get braces. I remember thinking her slightly crooked teeth were cute too. She’s still cute after getting them straightened, though.
Her papa (a male supporter) may have mixed feelings as well. He might be thinking, “If she gets even prettier, another papa will snatch her up!” (lol)
As an aside, there are quite a few guys—including me, Fuu—who don’t feel much erotic excitement toward perfectly beautiful women. We actually get more excited and can feel at ease when someone has a slightly imperfect feature. (lol)

I think he liked her old crooked teeth—including that imperfection.
Now that special quality he knew is gone, and he probably feels lonely. It may seem as though she’s reached a world beyond his own, so perhaps he’s having a hard time letting go.
It’s a bit like being happy when your favorite restaurant earns a Michelin star, but also feeling sad because you’ll hardly ever be able to go there anymore.

A man who liked giving oral stopped completely because he was afraid the braces might scratch him.
Braces make your upper lip look a little fuller, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Your teeth hurt for about two weeks after getting your braces tightened, right? I ate nothing but rice porridge and milk porridge for a while. I couldn’t eat curry because it stains, and when I tried Morioka cold noodles, they got caught in my braces and I nearly cried from the pain.

If you feel that you look better now, isn’t that enough? I can understand wanting others to agree, but getting annoyed when they don’t seems like expecting too much.
Those men probably didn’t specifically like your crooked teeth. They may have liked that you had a certain imperfection, or they simply didn’t pay that much attention to it. Other people don’t look at your face as closely as you do.

She’s naturally beautiful, and men may not care that much about teeth anyway. I think slightly crooked canines are cute. Plus, it’ll make you less prone to cavities, so why not do it for yourself?

For example, when people are alone, their teeth are usually not visible. If someone’s face looks well-balanced even in that state, then it means the condition of their teeth doesn’t really matter as long as they look that way.
In reality, though, you can see someone’s teeth during a date because you talk and eat together.
It’s possible that your teeth were never actually as crooked as you thought they were. In particular:

If that’s the case, your teeth probably weren’t all that crooked to begin with.
On the other hand, your current alignment may be so perfectly straight that it looks somewhat unnatural.

I think you feel that way because you paid a lot of money and endured the pain. At least, it wasn’t done for the sake of men, so perhaps it would be good to reconsider who you did it for.
If that’s difficult, maybe you’d be happier only dating people who praise you no matter what.
At the very least, from what you’ve written, it seems you didn’t actually need to spend that much money or endure that much pain.
Would you rather know what the actual results are, or would you prefer someone who praises you even if there were no real results?
I think it would be good to think that through carefully.
My impression is that your teeth probably weren’t as crooked as you believe they were.
