> What would people think if I wrote that in my profile? I really want to make it clear that I’m struggling financially...
I don’t think saying you’re struggling will make much difference to the number of offers you receive.
After you meet, if it comes up in casual conversation—or if they ask, “Why are you doing this?”—it might be better to say something like:
“Things are really tough because I’m on welfare.”
I don’t think you should bring it up yourself.

Do you really want welfare benefits that badly?
Try putting yourself in the opposite position and think about it. Who would offer you something so messy and troublesome?
Wouldn’t you make money every day working in the adult entertainment industry?
Why not join the Self-Defense Forces? I believe I heard that they cover your university tuition. Please look into the details yourself.

Are you talking about separating households or student loans?
Putting that aside, I can’t help feeling uncomfortable when I think about the high school graduates working at my company who also grew up in single-mother households and had to give up on going to college. I find myself thinking, “If you’re really struggling financially, why not work?”
I don’t want to hear people at a dating club claiming that they’re genuinely having trouble making ends meet. My desire to help people who are truly struggling is directed toward donating to Médecins Sans Frontières.

It sounds made up. Welfare assistance is based on the household, so I don’t think the mother and child would be treated as separate cases. Also, I’ve never heard of someone attending university while receiving welfare. It wouldn’t sound realistic unless you mentioned scholarships.
Even if we give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s true, I think you’d be better off working in the adult entertainment industry. If you want to earn steadily, that would probably be the better option. If you want to use a dating club, I think you should be upfront about it in your profile. Experienced supporters who are open to that will make offers. If you don’t mention it, ordinary people will keep making offers, then be completely put off when they hear the story, and the relationship will end—over and over again.
