Which puts you most in the mood—an upscale hotel, a traditional inn, a love hotel, someone’s place, or somewhere else?

I’m a male member, BB7. When it’s a nice love hotel, I feel the most relaxed and excited because I don’t have to worry about the surroundings, even if the woman moans loudly. At luxury hotels, the sounds probably don’t carry, but I still find myself holding back a little, wondering if our voices might be leaking into the hallway.

I’m Fuu, a columnist. What excites me most is having sex standing up in front of the mirrored walls—or large mirrors—you often find in love hotels. However, when I’m with someone through a dating club, I only use city hotels so I can behave like a gentleman and keep things classy. I’ve never done it standing up with anyone there. Someday, with someone I’ve grown close to and built trust with, I’d like to go to a nice, clean love hotel and fulfill my wish of doing it standing up in front of a mirror.

Maezawa from the President’s Office here. I don’t think being at a love hotel necessarily puts you in a better mood. Love hotels in particular can be very hit-or-miss. If the place is so cramped that you’re thinking, “It’s this small?” or it’s just awful, I imagine it would bring your mood down. Famous love hotels can be clean and spacious, so I can understand them lifting your spirits. But I feel the same could be said of city hotels and traditional inns. That said, I think the most important factor is who you’re with. P.S. > Rooms with lots of mirrors, or with large mirrors, which are common in love hotels The “rotating beds,” a key feature representing Showa-era love hotels; mirrored walls designed to reflect guests lying in bed; and glass bathtubs intended to stimulate sexual curiosity were all heavily regulated when the laws governing the sex industry were revised. The standards for installing such features became much stricter afterward—for example, mirrors were only allowed if they were small—so I think large mirrors have gradually become quite rare. Apparently, rotating beds have not been installed in any love hotels built since 1985. Since they can no longer legally be installed, they’re only found in older hotels built before then. There were also bumpy beds with built-in vibrating mechanisms, beds that rose all the way to the ceiling and rotated, and rooms covered entirely in mirrors where people could be intimate while spinning around… Unfortunately, I belong to the generation that came after all that had disappeared, so I never experienced it. But I imagine some people enjoyed themselves back in those days.

Trying a different setting can really get you in the mood—like going to a city hotel with someone you usually meet at a love hotel, a hot-spring inn in the suburbs with someone you usually meet at a city hotel, or even a love hotel with someone you usually meet at a city hotel. Marika

I’m Kazu, a male member. It doesn’t make much difference whether it’s a hotel or someone’s home. I tend to feel more turned on in places where we shouldn’t be doing anything erotic, but since it’s hard to focus on sex there, I actually do it in a private room. I’ve also been thinking it would be exciting to go to a deserted island or private beach and get intimate outdoors, so I’d say a deserted island—or private beach—is where I’d feel the most turned on.
