Unless the person asking the question says something that hints at having other papas—for example, “You’re the only one”—I feel like there’s often no way to tell.
However, if they aren’t very good at hiding it, they may bring up things in conversation that make you sense the presence of another papa, so you might be able to figure it out.
I’m sure some people are upfront from the start about seeing others as well, so it may be best to think about which situation you would prefer.

Unless you’re exceptionally good at hiding it—or the papas are unusually oblivious—they’ll probably notice.
When you’re seeing someone, you naturally start to get a sense of their daily routine. If a woman tries to keep that hidden, you get the feeling there’s a reason, and the relationship usually doesn’t become very close.

You might call someone like that a papa-katsu pro, but I think they’re only scratching the surface and don’t really understand the deeper side of papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).
At that point, it’s not much different from the sex industry—it’s just a job or part-time gig. They end up missing out on what makes papa-katsu worthwhile.
It’s a little sad, though I suppose that’s not what they’re looking for…
