I’m not sure what to wear on a date. I’m a young, slim college student. The outfits I often see on Twitter and online that appeal to papa (male supporters) tend to be mature-looking long knit dresses, but since I’m young and slender, should I wear a miniskirt instead? For women around 25, a long dress might be better, but if you’re younger, are you supposed to wear a mini? Or does it really just come down to the man’s personal preference?

I’m Aya, a female member. Basically, I choose outfits that flatter my figure while still matching the other person’s preferences. I don’t wear flashy colors or overly frilly clothes, since most men don’t seem to like them. Simple outfits tend to go over well.

I’m Fuu, a column writer. I like dresses in colors that suit me, with hemlines that aren’t too short.

Have you considered wearing clothes that suit you and bring out your best features? Since around middle school, I’ve experimented with things like the skirt length that makes my legs look their longest and best, and outfits that make my F-cup bust—which I’ve had since my first year of high school—look like a curvy figure rather than simply making me look overweight. I’m not especially fashion-forward, but I update my style from time to time. Within those limits, I might choose a miniskirt if the man I’m seeing prefers them, but even if he asks, I won’t wear something that really doesn’t suit me. I think many men don’t like miniskirts for a first meeting, so it’s probably best to avoid them. Marika

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. Before joining the club, I often went on ordinary dates with women around 20 years old. When it came to what they wore, I preferred them to avoid flashy outfits, bags, or overly sexy clothing, since I didn’t want us to be mistaken for a paid escort and her client. They usually met me in natural, casual clothes they might wear to school or after work. They chose those outfits without me having to say anything, and of course, the overall look was perfect. Sometimes it was jeans and a T-shirt, sometimes a dress, and occasionally even something like a sweatshirt. That level of casualness probably wouldn’t be appropriate at a club, but I think it’s best to dress like you’re casually meeting a close female friend.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here. > I usually wear long knit dresses and things like that. That may be true in fall and winter, but I don’t think you’d wear them as much in spring. > Since I’m young and slim, should I wear a miniskirt? That would probably be better for the interview, but for dates after receiving an offer, it really depends on the man, so it’s difficult to say. For example, even among people dating someone their own age, many might tell her not to wear clothes that show too much skin. Some men may not want anyone but themselves to see her that way. If you’re unsure, you could ask through the staff, “I’m not sure what kind of outfit would be appropriate. Could you ask him for me?” They may be willing to check. (Though if they’re busy, they might not.) If you ask that way, though, he might just say “semi-formal,” which could make things even more confusing. You could instead give him three outfit options and ask him to choose.

I’m Kazu, a male member. Yes, it’s entirely a matter of personal preference. I’m not a fan of miniskirts. On the other hand, I’d be perfectly happy with denim and sneakers, even though they’re considered a no-go.
