Arriving too early can be inconvenient if he hasn’t arrived yet, while arriving exactly on time may make him feel uneasy. I think arriving five minutes early is ideal.

Most of them call about three to five minutes beforehand. That’s usually when they’re arriving at the meeting spot, so we can just meet up right away.
A few have also sent me a message by SMS before heading over. Personally, I get a good impression from that.
That said, it isn’t required by the rules, and some men may not like it, so please take this only as a reference.

I believe the club told you to call five minutes beforehand.
You’re not supposed to call any earlier, and if you’re going to be late, you shouldn’t call the man directly either. In that case, you’re supposed to contact the club.
I took a quick look to see if it was written somewhere, but the club’s instructions for the date only casually say:
“※Please call the gentleman once you arrive.”
Still, I’m pretty sure they specified five minutes beforehand, so please call him when it’s five minutes before the meeting time.
