A woman I was close to and thought had left the service has quietly registered again. Why do you think she did it? What usually prompts women to re-register?

She may want more money, have ended things with another generous papa, or—purely speculating—want to end things with you. Try to read the situation carefully and take action if you don’t want to break up. Maybe offer a higher allowance? That said, if she genuinely wants to end things, it’s extremely difficult to change her mind. If she brings up breaking up, I recommend ending things and looking for a new woman.

In your case, it might be better not to say it for your own sake—you could end up hearing, “You went to Keio University, and yet you’re doing something like this… ahem.” Even if you do say it, it probably won’t affect your papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan). Marika

I’ve mentioned this in a previous question, but a woman I see almost every week had temporarily suspended her membership because she was busy. Then I noticed that she had changed her status and was appearing in searches again. When I asked her about it, she told me she had received incorrect information from a friend and changed her status based on that. Once I explained how things actually worked, she was surprised by the mistake and changed it back to her original status the next day. Then, a few days later, she ended up canceling her membership altogether. I was anticlimactic because she had simply misunderstood the status system, but cases like this do happen. I was able to confirm that everything she told me about temporarily suspending her membership and the changes afterward was true, and our relationship has continued unchanged. Paper Airplane Since you’ve confirmed that what you heard about her having canceled her membership was true, I’d be curious about what led to it. I think it would be fine to ask her. The club may not be as important to her as it is to men.

If this is someone you’ve been seeing regularly, it probably means the allowance isn’t enough. There could be other reasons, but if you’re on good terms, they’re probably willing to overlook most things. That said, not having enough money isn’t something they can simply overlook, so they’ll probably re-register. Still, if you’re worried about someone you’re seeing re-registering, you should be paying several times more in allowance. After all, you could say that you’re the reason they had to re-register.

I think the most common scenario is that a papa (a male supporter) gets cut off, leaving her income unstable.

I think it would be best to ask her directly, but if you’re also looking at other women’s profiles, wouldn’t that make it a win-win? Since this is a dating club, I think it’s better to assume that having multiple partners is perfectly normal. As for the woman bringing in new male partners, she may either be preparing for a vacancy that could arise or already have an opening. Questioner, be careful not to become the one who gets replaced.

If the other person was open about seeing multiple people, then as Dai-san said, this might be to fill a vacancy. However, if the person you’re seeing told you that you’re the only one they’re dating, there could be various explanations. Still, I’d generally see it as a negative sign, so asking them directly might be awkward. In my case, I tell them from the start that I’m open about seeing multiple people and that I’m still registered with the club. That said, there is someone who, after we’d been seeing each other for quite a while, left the club and told me I was the only one. I’ve told her to let me know if anything comes up. At the same time, I also told her that if she does continue using the club, she should do so without letting me know—such as hiding my profile and being discreet in her day-to-day behavior. Even with a dating club, relationships are built on trust, so I think it’s important for both sides to avoid lying whenever possible—or at least not get caught. Also, just because someone says I’m the only one doesn’t mean I can take them for granted or stop putting in the effort. The relationship won’t last that way, so I try to be careful. The same goes for any kind of relationship, of course.

If you’re close, I think you should just ask her directly. A common reason might be that she’s been seeing multiple people, but things ended with another man—not you—so she’s looking for someone new again.
