It’s hard to ask, “I can’t do an adult relationship, but what about the allowance?” isn’t it? Still, if it’s going to keep bothering you, you should probably ask.
I’ve never been in that situation, but if I enjoyed spending time with someone enough to want to see them even without an allowance, I’d happily meet them just for dinner without expecting one. I’d simply feel grateful that they treated me.
If I were treated to dinner and given an allowance on top of that, I’d feel like I was raising my own expectations. Of course, I’d be happy if that happened, though!
