If you’re flying for a trip, is the man expected to pay for the airfare? Even if the woman is the one who suggested the trip and it was arranged that way? The round-trip ticket costs about ¥90,000.

I believe the man should generally cover the costs. You can figure out the reason for yourself.

I’ve never had to take out my wallet when meeting men from a club. I assume that when it comes to trips, the man is expected to cover the expenses as well. This brings us to a frequently asked question: how much should the allowance be for a trip? Some people think it should be the same as for an overnight stay, while others feel it should be higher because the time commitment is longer. Some even think there should be no allowance if the trip was arranged at the woman’s request. There are various ways of looking at it, so please make sure to discuss and agree on the terms beforehand. Marika

She’s the one reaching out and saying she wants to meet you, right? In that case, be happy to cover her airfare, thinking, “She’s coming all this way to see me.” If you’re the kind of person who feels reluctant to pay for that, it’s probably best to move on. Still, I think finding someone within your own area is more practical—you can meet easily, things can progress quickly, and you’ll save on expenses. As they say, the grass is always greener on the other side. You may find there’s someone wonderful much closer than you realize.

You should ask them directly, but it sounds like you said you wanted to go on the trip assuming they would cover everything, and they agreed to that—or at least that’s how I see it. If you don’t want to pay for everything, I think it’s better not to go on the trip—for both your sakes. Why not travel with someone you genuinely want to support, without worrying about the cost, and feel that covering everything is simply what you should do?

Yes, generally speaking, the man is expected to pay. If the woman is the one who wants to go and the man doesn’t want to cover the travel expenses, I think it’s perfectly fine for him to decline.
