Shouldn’t we do away with submitted photos? Shouldn’t profiles only use photos taken by staff during the interview? Members can upload private photos themselves (that would make lies and exaggerations obvious).

Maezawa answers: I do think banning photos submitted by the women themselves is a good idea, but when a woman asks, “Could you replace it with this photo?” it’s hard to say no. I also feel it would be a shame if she said something like, “If you won’t change it, I’ll leave the club.” So, unless there’s an issue with the photo itself, we generally accept photos provided by the women. Even then, however, we also make sure to post photos taken by our staff. If there are no photos taken by the staff, I think it’s best to assume that the woman declined. I’m very pleased to hear that people prefer photos taken by our staff. However, as long as it doesn’t interfere with running the club, we’d also like to accommodate the women’s preferences. For now, we’d like to continue operating things as we have been.
