I was about to launch into a full-on rebuttal, but Maezawa jumped in and wrote a response, which helped me cool off.
That said, I wondered, “Are we still running ads on adult entertainment job sites?” So I checked—and we’re running a ton of them. Full steam ahead.

We use part of the setting fees and membership fees paid by our members for advertising, so we can’t waste a single yen.
The fact that the ads are still running probably means Vanilla’s recruitment ads are still delivering good results.
Advertising in Chiba is pretty difficult, and Vanilla has exceptional name recognition thanks to its truck ads. If it’s producing results, why not?
My guess is that around 30% of women who see adult-entertainment job listings think, “Yeah, I really can’t do that…” and leave.
I hope our ads resonate with women like that.
Some people may wonder whether women who join after seeing an adult-entertainment job site are lower quality—or think, “Surely none of them are inexperienced.”
That’s not the case at all. In fact, many of them are ordinary women.
Since they weren’t searching specifically for the term “dating club,” their mindset is more typical, if anything.
Women already working in the adult-entertainment industry generally won’t be interested in something like a dating club, where they don’t know whether it will actually generate income.
What worries me most, on the other hand, are women coming over from apps or Twitter.
They may have been influenced by clever online information and the “you could become incredibly wealthy” fantasies promoted by self-proclaimed papa-katsu concierges and scouts. They may also be good at presenting themselves as refined and inexperienced.
This is an extremely biased assumption, of course, and certainly doesn’t apply to everyone.
In any case, I don’t feel the slightest bit guilty about advertising on Vanilla. We pay properly for the ads, don’t make false claims, and bring in a certain number of female members. Serious respect to the marketing staff.
