Are there male members whose appearance is like that of the suspect in the Ibaraki murder case? If so, I can only imagine how shocked a woman would be when meeting him for the first time. If women cannot see the men’s photos, are they given information about their appearance beforehand? Shouldn’t they at least ask something like, “Would you accept an offer from a man who is considerably overweight, half-bald, and not exactly gentle-looking?” Or are men of that sort rejected during the interview?

Maezawa here—I’ll answer as well. I’m guessing the questioner is a man who used to be a staff member, or someone who has a particularly close relationship with the staff. We don’t take photos of the men, so basically, only staff members who have actually met them know what they look like. That means we’re not even sure whether a particular type of man is registered or not. However, we do tell women how the staff members who have met them describe their appearance. We try to phrase it as tactfully as possible, though. That’s why you sometimes see vague descriptions like “a well-built man.” But since things start with a meal, you can judge the person as a whole at that point, rather than focusing solely on his appearance. It may be difficult for women who are very particular about looks, but there are men with great personalities too, so I think everyone should have an equal chance. Of course, if someone lacks basic cleanliness or neglects things they could improve through their own efforts, that’s a problem. So please feel free to give us plenty of feedback—we may be able to help them improve. If a particular male member receives an overwhelming amount of negative feedback, he will likely be expelled from the service.
