I’m a male member of Universe Club with a question about the “Join Date” on female members’ profiles. Only on the application history screen, the field corresponding to “Registration Date” is labeled “Join Date.” However, the data in this “Join Date” field appears to be “Update Date,” rather than “Join Date.” It seems that either the database is referencing the wrong field or the field has been mislabeled. I find it strange that this is the only place where it isn’t the registration date. It’s not a big deal, but I occasionally notice it and wonder about it, so I thought I’d ask. (The person asking works in IT.)

As for why the wording is different, and why a date different from the registration date is being displayed—only the person who wrote the program would know for sure, but… My guess is that originally everything was labeled “membership date.” Then they realized that the date of the interview and the date they approved the person’s registration were different from the date the profile was uploaded to the members’ page. So they changed the label to “registration date,” since it referred to the date the profile was registered on the members’ page—but forgot to update the label in the history section. That’s my guess, anyway. I haven’t confirmed it with the person involved, so I don’t know the truth. If you work in IT, I’m sure you’ve already come up with a more realistic explanation of what probably happened. As long as everything works without bugs, I’d appreciate it if you could overlook the wording differences… Also, internally, in addition to the registration date, the system keeps the dates when data was updated, such as when new photos were taken. Maybe it’s displaying one of those dates by mistake. I’ll casually mention it to the person who created it next time. (Though they may already be reading this…) Then again, anyone in IT probably knows the ultimate answer: “It’s by design.” Sometimes the reason and the specification are two completely different things. (Haha) (Addendum) I checked with the person who created it, and apparently it was simply an uncorrected label. They said they’ll fix it.
