For the men here: if you continue seeing someone after the first meeting, or already have an ongoing arrangement, do you discuss things like the allowance?

I’m Aya, a female member. Since relationships through dating clubs can be unpredictable, I feel comfortable only once we’ve discussed the allowance. That’s when I can start building a relationship with peace of mind.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here. I think most men assume that the allowance from the second meeting onward will be the same as for the first meeting, so they usually don’t bring it up. Women generally assume the same as well, so if nothing is said, it seems like the unspoken rule is that the allowance remains unchanged. That said, some men ignore this, so women need to be careful. I occasionally hear about cases where a woman expected the same amount, only to have it reduced without her consent. Reducing it unilaterally is incredibly selfish and makes him a truly awful man. If he wants to lower the amount, he should discuss it beforehand. I’ve never heard of a man paying for the first meeting and assuming the second would be free, but there are occasionally strange men who think the first meeting should be free. So I think it’s best to be careful about that.

I’m Dai, a male member. We’ve continued seeing each other using the allowance we agreed on at the beginning. I believe she expects the same allowance as well. If I were to change it, I’d only consider increasing it, but I haven’t thought about doing that so far.

I’m Fuu, a column writer. My offers are limited to C and D. When making the initial offer, while we’re having dinner and dessert, I discuss: · Whether she’d like to have an adult relationship afterward · The allowance amount Once we’re in the room, after taking a shower, I put an envelope containing the allowance on the bedside table, showing her the amount inside. Afterward, for someone I’d like to continue seeing, we discuss: · How many times a month we’d like to meet · The allowance amount on a pay-per-meeting basis Then we come to an agreement together. To avoid regretting it later, you should confirm the terms and allowance amount before having an adult relationship.

I’m a total pushover among the male members. For a girl I really like, I gradually increase the allowance we agreed on when we started seeing each other. For the ordinary girls I keep around, I leave it at the amount I initially offered. Also, I prepay most of the girls I keep around. When we say goodbye at the room, I hand them an envelope with the allowance for next time and say, “This is for our next meeting.” Then they give me a business hug and say, “Thank you!”

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. Kazu, > Do you ever start seeing someone without discussing the allowance? If it’s a girl I’m especially fond of or someone who’s Type B, I’ll start seeing her without discussing the allowance or setting an amount. So it may vary from one day to the next. One girl who never brought up money and I have continued seeing each other for a long time, quite frequently. Even when the amount is the same, for some reason the experience feels completely different. Also, when I’ve agreed on an amount with someone, I sometimes wonder, “Is she really satisfied with this?” If she’s Type C and I only see her once or twice a month, I discuss and settle the allowance in advance on the first day. I make that distinction based on how natural the chemistry feels when we meet.

I’m Uehara from the staff. When people are planning to see each other over the long term, I often hear that they discuss and agree on the terms of the arrangement from the start. Even if it isn’t a long-term arrangement, I recommend having a thorough conversation before entering into a relationship.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. I always discuss the allowance at some point on the day of the first meeting, regardless of whether we’re considering continuing or not. I also make it clear that I have no intention of negotiating the allowance, so if she isn’t comfortable with it, it’s perfectly fine for us to say goodbye. I think that makes things easier for her too, since she won’t have to contact me to turn me down.

I’m Kazu, a male member. Of course I do. Is it really possible to date without discussing the allowance? > Paper Airplane > “If she’s one of my absolute favorites or a Type B girl, I start seeing her without discussing the terms or amount.” That’s impressive. I’d be too nervous to do that.
