Kida here to answer. I’d never calculated our acceptance rate before. This time, I ran the numbers based on the women who came in for interviews at our Ebisu headquarters, and the result was that one in ten was not accepted. - The total includes everyone who actually came in for an interview and heard our explanation. - Those who withdrew on their own are included among the accepted applicants. There are various reasons someone may not be accepted. Sometimes it’s an unhealthy appearance—being excessively overweight or underweight—but a major factor is also a misunderstanding of what a dating club involves. Some women come to the interview thinking papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) means a part-time job where they can receive ¥30,000 every time for dinner only (no intimacy). Once they hear how it actually works, they realize it’s completely different, and in many cases they aren’t accepted. For men, roughly speaking, I’d say about one in twenty is not accepted. We may decline applicants who are primarily looking for marriage or who are unable to listen and communicate properly. As for income, we explain that “unless you can afford to spend around this amount every month, this is the kind of activity you’ll be able to pursue,” and applicants join after agreeing to those terms. So income alone isn’t a reason to reject someone. There are plenty of unemployed people with ¥10 billion in assets, after all.
