I’m a lost 60-something.
I think letter dating is something uniquely suited to this time, while the COVID situation is still far from over.
Trying to make myself look poor…?
You can sense a person’s composure and character between the lines. The same comes through in the other person’s replies, which makes it really enjoyable.
The women who are willing to do letter dating are mainly B- and A-type, and that suits me perfectly since my strategy is to “wait like a gentleman” (as Mac puts it(笑)) for an adult relationship. I’m very grateful.
To Maezawa-san:
At first, wasn’t the system that the club transferred a ¥5,000 honorarium to the woman?
My partner initially refused it, but ultimately accepted it.
Getting half off the offer fee is incredibly appealing. It’s actually one of my reasons for making offers!(笑)

Letter dating is such a hassle, isn’t it? It unnecessarily makes women more cautious, or maybe things just drag on because neither side is fully committed. Either way, it takes a lot of time and effort. I’m doing it too, but I keep thinking, “How many months has it been now?” If we’d just met from the start, we could’ve reached a conclusion without wasting all this time…
It really made me realize that dating clubs solved a lot of these hassles with money—the introduction fee. In that sense, I’m glad I experienced it. From now on, whenever I want an item in a game, I’ll just pay for it without hesitation.
Thank you.

I think the drawbacks of Letter Date are:
1. The setting fee was reduced by half
2. Women no longer receive a ¥5,000–¥10,000 honorarium
Of course, as you can tell from the men who say they became unreachable after doing Letter Date, or never managed to meet, arranging these introductions requires a certain amount of know-how.
So I assume the fee was lowered because that know-how wasn’t being used. And I imagine they removed the honorarium because having Univa handle the payments would involve considerable administrative costs.
Still, if they hadn’t halved the setting fee, it seems the savings would have covered the cost of processing the transfers. Then both of these drawbacks could have been avoided at the same time.
It’s too late to say that now, though.
> Is Letter Date really necessary?
It was originally created for people who:
- Are good at writing
- Enjoy communicating through messages
That person was genuinely trying to pay the honorarium properly—though the woman turned it down, so I don’t know how things ultimately turned out—and seemed to be considerate enough to do that.
So I think it probably would have worked out well for them, and for people like that, I do think it’s necessary.
However, I feel that these days it has come to be used by people who simply want to keep the offer fee low. That goes against the original purpose, so for that kind of use, I sometimes feel it isn’t necessary.
With that in mind, if the offer fee had stayed the same and women still received an honorarium, I think it could have been a good system for people who enjoy writing.
I wonder who decided to cut it in half.
President Kida was definitely the one who approved it, though.

I’ve received offers for letter dates—three, I think? Two of them were genuinely wealthy.
Apparently, because they look a little intimidating, some people back out when they receive a regular date offer. They might have tattoos or something, you know? LOL
So it seems it’s not just poor people.

What are you all talking about?
The appeal of letter dates is that they’re cheap.
If you take enough shots, one is bound to hit.
Even people who don’t get offers for regular dates might have a chance…

Yes, I might not need anything other than Type B. If anything, B rather than C.
If you’re going to do it, I think it would be better to make letter dates the standard price and increase the regular offer fee by 50%. I wonder if letter dates are easier and less work for the staff…
P.S. Just my personal opinion, but I think letter dates offer significant benefits both to women and to sincere men.
Rather than just relying on words, everything is clearly laid out in writing. For women, this makes it easier to decide quickly and without confusion, while sincere men can communicate things effectively that are difficult to convey simply by meeting in person.
Honestly,
I feel they’re worth more than three times as much as a regular offer. So instead of the current price being half that of a regular offer, I wonder if setting it at one-third—or even lower—would make them more widely used and give them greater value.
Just as some older people say they can’t manage online vaccine appointments and prefer to use the phone, I think the club still has a strong preference for meeting people directly. Still, I hope that eventually it will evolve into something like an automated online letter-date system.
