I’m a newly registered female member and have two questions.

I’m Aya, a female member. I’m interested in stocks too, but if I were signing up now, I probably wouldn’t mention it in my hobbies. As others have said, I’d worry about being seen as some awful woman who throws the money she makes from papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) into stocks and then gloats about making a killing. Investing earned money in stable stocks is a sensible way to live, but when it comes to appealing to men, it can make you seem like a pretty bad person. If it were me, I’d write something like this in the hobbies section: “I love being taught and learning new things. Since we’re in the middle of the pandemic, I’ve started taking online lessons in ___.” There are one-time trial lessons available online now, so I’d look up some classes and try one.

It may not be popular these days, but there was a time when attending hearings for speeding violations was something people did. For example, there were discussions like: “The measuring device has an error margin of -10% to +0%, so it can’t display a speed higher than the actual speed.” To which someone might respond: “There’s no way such a machine exists. It’s a device with an error margin of -5% to +5%, and they’ve simply set the display to -5%. Why are they lying?” There were even cases like that. > 2) Regarding the order in which male members appear when you search for them, is it correct to assume that they’re listed in order of most recent login? I seem to recall hearing that they’re listed according to the date and time they most recently updated their profile, but I’m not entirely sure.

This is Chikuwa, a male member. If you come across as really serious and studious, “My hobby is studying” might work. Older guys who want to corrupt a good girl may come flocking. There’s really no upside to writing “My hobby is stock investing.” It’ll only give the impression that you got into stocks with money you made from papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), so you’re definitely better off leaving it out.

I love going out for meals. Please take me somewhere with delicious food. I like Japanese cuisine and meat. 2. I love alcohol. Please take me to a place with good drinks. 3. I’m thinking about starting to invest in stocks. I’d be happy if someone knowledgeable could teach me. The male members would probably be delighted to share all their trivia and expertise. You just have to put up with that, nod along enthusiastically, and use the classic “sa-shi-su-se-so” lines of a capable woman: - Sa: “As expected of you!” - Shi: “I didn’t know that!” - Su: “Amazing!” - Se: “You have such great taste.” - So: “Oh, I see!” It’s a tried-and-true technique—just keep it casual and natural! “I’ve never done this before” also works, so I use that too. Then I try to make him fall for me and get some $$$ from my papa (male supporter)（笑） I don’t know about number 2, since that’s about the female member’s profile page.

I’m Nana Ayase. Why not write about things like cleaning if that’s your hobby, your studies, reading, cooking, shopping, or other things you can always do with ease? ☆ You’re not a 70-year-old grandmother, so please don’t refer to yourself as “this person.” Act like a classy woman.

I’m Kazu, a male member. 1) I think everyone has different preferences, but listing academics or stock investing as hobbies doesn’t come across as particularly cute or charming. That said, simply writing “listening to music” is pretty boring too. Personally, I don’t have a bad impression of someone listing stock investing as a hobby. However, if it turns out when we meet and talk that she only dabbles in stocks and it isn’t really enough to call it a hobby, I’d probably feel disappointed. 2) I’m a male member, so I don’t know the order in which profiles appear when searching for male members.
