Does hair count as black as long as it’s dark, or is it only considered black hair if it’s completely uncolored and naturally that way?
In my experience, even dyed hair with a dark ash tone gets treated as black or natural hair (though women seem to be able to tell it’s dyed), so I often wonder whether men can actually tell the difference.
The reason I’m asking is that I’m registered with the Osaka branch, so if men can’t tell the difference, I’m wondering—perhaps with a bit of ulterior motive—whether keeping my hair dark with an ash tone might catch the eye of men with a thing for black hair.

I think hair can be considered black as long as it’s on the darker side. To me, liking black hair is similar to liking girls with a neat, refined look. Personally, I feel jet-black hair can look a little too heavy, so I prefer a dark shade with a touch of brown that suits the person’s overall vibe.
That said, if a girl with pink, purple, or other bright colors in her hair is walking alongside an older guy like me, it can really make us look like we’re involved in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) or some kind of questionable arrangement. I feel bad for both the woman and myself, so even if I like her face and figure, there are times when I won’t make an offer.
If you want more offers through this activity, I think it’s important to choose a calm, understated hair color that doesn’t attract too much unwanted attention.

If that’s the case, I think you should be fine.
After all, some Japanese people naturally have slightly brownish-black hair, so men generally do have some leeway.
As long as it looks black at first glance, I think it should be okay.
I assume they simply don’t like hair that’s obviously dyed.
Though I do sometimes wonder about the idea that dyed hair is unacceptable in this day and age. Still, there are a lot of men who feel that way, so it is what it is.

I learned from the women that hair color apparently has something called a level scale. Workplaces with strict dress codes may specify an acceptable level on this scale. In workplaces where a polished, upscale image is important, the limit is often set at level 6.
Of course, opinions on the level scale may vary from person to person, but would it be fair to say that, generally speaking, up to level 6 is considered acceptable?
If your natural hair is level 7 or lighter, please have your mother write a certificate confirming that it’s your natural hair and submit it to the club.
