How can you tell whether someone is opening up to you? Everything they say could be a lie or an act. What should you look for to know how they really feel?

I’m Maezawa from the president’s office, and I’ll answer as well. Thank you for your question. I don’t think you need to be able to clearly determine whether someone has opened up to you. If their kindness makes you feel that they’re opening their heart to you, I think it’s fine to accept things as they are, regardless of the reality. You’re probably worried about feeling betrayed if you eventually realize that it was all a lie, but I don’t think you’ll be able to move forward if you dwell on that. I think it’s best to continue seeing them while believing: “What’s right in front of me now is real.” “It’s better to be deceived than to deceive someone.”

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. I think you’re looking at it from a fundamentally different perspective. Everyone has moments when they open up, but it’s rare for anyone to open up completely in every respect. The only person who comes at me with her heart completely open is my wife. Anyway, regardless of whether she’s “opened up” or not, treat a woman you like with genuine kindness and give her your all. If you do, that door will occasionally open.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I pick up on it through little things they say and do. For example, they might occasionally say something that puts themselves at a disadvantage or sounds negative. Once or twice could be coincidence, but if it happens fairly often, I assume that’s just who they really are. If someone could keep up that level of lying and acting, they’d be superhuman—far beyond anything I could imitate—so even if I were being manipulated by their lies and performance, I’d have to accept it. I believe you don’t sense someone’s true feelings by focusing on one particular thing. You get a feel for them by looking at the whole picture.
