Thank you for your question.
I wonder what happened.
From here on, speaking generally: We’ve actually never received a message from a Q&A respondent saying they were stepping down.
Sometimes, we notice that someone hasn’t posted an answer recently and wonder what happened, only to find that they’ve closed their account.
I had assumed that closing your account meant you lost your eligibility to answer questions—
but it turns out there was never any such rule anywhere. (笑)
What this means is that the site says:
“We are looking for Universe Club members who are willing to answer these questions.”
So it’s certainly true that only members can apply, but it doesn’t say that you lose your eligibility to answer once you’re no longer a member.
A little further down, it also says:
“Since the information of anyone who has been withdrawn for more than one year may be outdated, we may suspend their membership eligibility.”
So at the very least, it seems that your eligibility as a respondent remains for about a year after closing your account.
And since it says eligibility “may” be suspended, there are also cases where it isn’t suspended.
It seems that the idea that you stop being a respondent as soon as you close your account was simply a misunderstanding.
I wish I’d realized this sooner. I’m sorry.
In any case, answering questions without compensation is extremely demanding, so I’m grateful to everyone who continues to do so.
