Does anyone have any ideas for making the Universe system faster? I think storing images on AWS S3 and serving them via presigned URLs would speed up image loading.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here as well. Thanks for your question. I’m not sure why you assume that uploading images to AWS S3 makes them display quickly. Could it be that you’re simply mistaken? I don’t really understand the logic behind your question. If S3 is so fast, then why do companies use caching and come up with all sorts of other optimizations? That’s what I’m wondering.

I’m a male member who goes by Paper Airplane. The larger, easier-to-see photos in the listings are a great improvement. As for speed, it’s currently about the same as before COVID, so I have no complaints. Though perhaps that money would be better spent attracting new female members… As things stand, I’m not quite convinced enough to continue indefinitely without hesitation, so I feel some effort is still needed. Another major difference from before COVID is the staff’s overall capacity—or rather, their response times. Before COVID, the club was impressively speedy and well organized—truly worthy of being called a club. Now, things take about seven to ten times longer than they did before COVID. There are often oversights and mistakes, and the hectic, disorganized feeling is hard to ignore. Much of the club’s refined, upscale atmosphere has disappeared, and the sense that everything is being handled like an assembly line is even reaching the members. I think the quality of service would improve if the club could build the system currently under consideration, provide concierge-like support for inquiries, focus on attracting women, and dedicate more time to interviews. At present, having staff act as messengers for scheduling—while also having to think through the wording and phrasing of every message—must be extremely stressful for them, beyond simply taking up their time.
