In short, the regional papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) rates can be roughly divided into these three groups, from highest to lowest: (1) Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto (2) Aichi, Miyagi (3) Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Hyogo, Hiroshima, Fukuoka Using Group (3) as the baseline, the papa-katsu rate in Group (2) is about 1.5 times higher, while Group (1) is about twice as high. In terms of the actual number of people involved in papa-katsu, Tokyo is probably first because it has both a large population base and a high rate, followed by Osaka. Aichi Prefecture has roughly the same population as Osaka, but its papa-katsu rate is lower, putting it in third place. Kyoto has a high papa-katsu rate, but its population is small, so the actual number of people is about the same as in Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa. Miyagi has an exceptionally high papa-katsu rate, but because the prefecture’s population is small, its papa-katsu population is still lower than Fukuoka’s. So please don’t ask, “What’s the point?” lol
