I’m だて◎ゆめ, a male member.
Throughout my 20s and 30s—well, probably even into my 40s—I was so focused on taking care of my own life that I didn’t have the time or energy for papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).
I suppose spending time with a papa (or mama) just felt like a waste of time… haha.
I was completely consumed with building a career and establishing myself so I could get my income on a stable footing.
But once your income starts to stabilize, you naturally begin thinking about all sorts of other things too, don’t you? Haha.
I imagine mama-katsu is probably much the same.

Thanks for the question.
For example, I feel that men in the papa generation were probably more like the boy in *Minna! Esper Dayo!* when they were young—maybe not exactly?—with thoughts like, “I wanna do it, I wanna do it…” Basically, like monkeys.
There was no internet, and although some wealthy households had video players, they weren’t something ordinary families owned. There were no mobile phones, either.
If I could go back mentally to being young in that generation and then become a woman… I feel like I might have done it even for free. (笑)
If someone told me, “But he’s an old man,” that might have been a barrier.
But if it meant I could buy a Ferrari, I might have thought, “Well, maybe?” (In the end, that’s still a man’s way of thinking. Back then, cars were status symbols—kind of like designer handbags are for women today, I suppose. Haha.)
Still, I feel men and women are fundamentally different. So even if I think about it objectively, I can probably only see it from a male perspective.

I’m Flag Maker, a columnist.
I actually signed up with an “on-call host” service because I wanted to understand what that feels like, but I haven’t received any work yet, so I don’t have any firsthand experience.
Still, if I imagine taking a booking in the future with a woman in her 60s or older, I think it might feel different if she were a nice person. But when it came to the first kiss or going down on her, I’d probably be thinking only, “This is money. This is money,” while doing it.

There are men doing papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) who earn about what I do, so I started wondering about the reverse situation.
If I were a man, would I do papa-katsu?
Hmm… I don’t think I would. If I were a man, I wouldn’t even know how to approach women.
When you think about it that way, men have it surprisingly tough. They’re expected to look decent, have a good income, and be smooth enough to meet wonderful women.
I’ve gained a newfound respect for papas (male supporters).

I like women, so if I were a woman, I’d be a lesbian. So I won’t join a dating club.

I had a decent income from work since my twenties, so I don’t think I would have done it. When I was younger, I chose jobs based more on income, so I actually earned more than I do now. If I were a woman, I probably would have accumulated more assets, since spending money on having fun wouldn’t cost as much.
If it had been mama-katsu, I might have paid a muscular, handsome guy to go down on me endlessly, tried a well-endowed guy, or had group sex.
Thanks for such an interesting question. I enjoyed answering it.
