I’m a male member. What allowance do you give for dates with women in the B category, or when the date ends up being dinner only due to your or her circumstances? I usually give 10,000 yen, though depending on the situation or my mood, I may give 20,000 or 30,000 yen. However, I was surprised when a woman asked for 30,000 yen even though dinner only was because of her circumstances. What would you do?

I’m Maezawa from the president’s office, and I’ll answer this as well. Thank you for your question. On the first date, when the Universe rules apply, the allowance is set at ¥5,000–¥10,000 if you only have dinner and then part ways. From the second date onward, it’s up to the two of you. Not paying any allowance after meeting is completely out of the question. If you meet a second time without discussing the allowance, I think many women would assume it’s ¥10,000 for dinner only, and they’re probably expecting that. If the man says there’s no allowance simply because nothing was discussed, what happens afterward will depend on his own appeal—but normally, the woman will block him from then on. There’s no point in explaining why. If the woman is a B-type and says she wants to meet a few times and decide from there, it may be difficult to know what to do until you develop an adult relationship (intimate). However, if you don’t give her an allowance each time, she’ll probably stop coming—in other words, she’ll be turning you down. So I think it’s safest to simply give her ¥10,000. I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “it became dinner only because of her circumstances.” Do you mean that you arranged to meet with the assumption that you’d go to a hotel, but she suddenly had an emergency or got her period, so it ended up being dinner only? In that case, she probably could have told you in advance, so emotionally, I feel like it would be understandable not to give her an allowance. But then you’d just be acting like a sulking child, so I suppose you should grit your teeth and give her ¥10,000 anyway… It probably also depends on how long you’ve been seeing her. If you’ve been together for a long time, you might naturally want to give her the usual amount even if it ends up being dinner only—¥50,000, ¥70,000, ¥100,000? (笑) Even if it happens by chance, considering the length of your relationship, I don’t think you’d feel like you’d lost anything. Whether you just have dinner or go to a hotel, it’s still a date, and I think eventually you stop worrying about the distinction. If it became dinner only because of your own circumstances, she may have been in a difficult situation and counting on the allowance. In that case, I think you should give her the same allowance you would have given her if you had gone to the hotel. Since it was your fault, that’s only natural. Anyone who complains, “Even though it was only dinner, I still have to pay?” even in a situation like that seems incredibly petty to me. > I was surprised when she asked for ¥30,000 even though dinner only happened because of her circumstances. She was probably in a difficult situation, but even if you decide to grit your teeth and pay, that’s a tough one.

I’m in Seattle. For dinner-only dates, regardless of who does the inviting, I pay 1 including transportation. I figure she has to spend time and effort on things like makeup, so I don’t have a problem with that. Even if I save the money, my biological daughter might just inherit it and spend it on a host anyway. - Initial meeting with a Type B woman: 1 - Dinner only at my request: the same amount as when we go to her place - Dinner only at her request: 1 Other than that, I’m the same as Taro. Even 3 is probably cheaper than going to a cabaret club, but considering the founder’s philosophy behind Universe Club, I feel that making things too comfortable for dinner-only girls may go against the spirit of being a male member. If you’re impotent and have more money than you know what to do with, support a Type A woman or spend it at a cabaret club and keep the economy moving.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. In situations like that, I have no choice but to hand it over and say, “Yes.” I understand why you might not be satisfied, but I also find myself thinking about the person asking, “Ah… this person has never experienced real fear before.” My next column is about a terrifying experience where I handed the same woman an amount equivalent to an allowance for an adult relationship three times, without even having a meal or going to a hotel. Please check it out. Once you’ve had an experience this terrifying, handing over a little extra allowance after simply having dinner with a really cute woman doesn’t feel all that painful anymore.

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. For a first meeting, I offer transportation money regardless of her type. Once we start seeing each other, we agree on how many times we’ll meet each month, so I pay the same amount whether it’s dinner only or we have H, to keep the support amount consistent.

I’m Kazu, a male member. Basically, this is how I handle things: - At the first meeting with a Type B woman: 1 - Dinner only at my request: the same amount as when we go to a room - Dinner only at her request: 0 If a woman invites me out for dinner or coffee to discuss a personal problem or something similar, I tell her in advance that there won’t be any allowance. If she asks for 3 for dinner only at her request, I stop contacting her because our views on dating arrangements clearly don’t align. If we had built a good relationship, I don’t think she would ask that way. When someone I’m seeing and have a good relationship with tells me she urgently needs money, I sometimes advance her the allowance for future meetings.

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member who’s happy to give an allowance for the enjoyable time we spend together, but still feels a little uncomfortable with giving an allowance for an adult relationship (intimate). Wouldn’t it be best to treat it as a clean break payment and say goodbye without any hard feelings? When meetings were online, I could spot someone who was aggressively money-minded and avoid them. But now that we can’t read their facial expressions over video, how can we prevent that? Oh, I suppose I could ask the staff. Still, I haven’t met anyone in Type B who could bring up an allowance yet, so I’m curious what kind of girl she is…

I’m Taro, a male member. Basically, it’s the same as the transportation allowance for the first meeting. However, if I’m the one who decides to end things after dinner only, I give her the full amount. If she says it’s because of her own circumstances, I decline. If the reason comes up during dinner, I politely explain that it’s something we hadn’t agreed on during our negotiations. If she already knew before dinner, I also point out that she should have told me in advance. The date itself might have been canceled otherwise. Then I pay close attention to her reaction, and if I feel she doesn’t understand, I don’t meet her again. There’s no point dragging things out, so it’s better to make a clean decision. I think that also gives her the right feedback. Added after reading Mac’s answer: He’s right—back then, I didn’t give an allowance for dinner only. I just realized that I’d been giving an allowance for dinners with girls who were gradually moving toward H over several meetings, and had started treating dinner as part of that because it was easier. You’re right, normally you wouldn’t pay for that. Thanks—I’ll go back to how I used to do it(笑)
