I recently received an offer for the first time in a while, but these days, it seems that many restaurants close around 7 or 8 p.m. I have work during the day, so I usually arrange to meet in the evening, but does that mean the gentleman will find a restaurant that’s open during this period?
During the previous state of emergency, sushi restaurants in Ginza were open during the day, and men often took me there. (Also, when I traveled to a regional area with a gentleman during the state of emergency, restaurants were open for dinner as well.) I haven’t eaten out in the evening since the latest state of emergency began, so I’m not sure what things are like now. Could anyone tell me?

Since the state of emergency was declared, we’ve often heard about changes to business hours and temporary closures. Some establishments are still open, so it’s possible he may have found one of those places.
Also, some gentlemen are fine with meeting for just an hour or two, so the man who made you the offer may only be considering a first meeting to start with.
That said, just to be safe, we recommend confirming with him through the club.

In and around Tokyo, last orders for alcohol are at 7 p.m., and food service ends at 8 p.m. So if you’re going out for dinner, you inevitably have to meet between 5 and 6 p.m.
It’s become difficult for me to go on weekday dates after work, too.

I’m based outside the major cities, but when I went to a restaurant after the state of emergency was declared—around 6 p.m.—it was open.
Even though it was relatively early, there weren’t many customers, so we were able to maintain a good social distance.
Of course, avoiding COVID-19 was important to me too, but the best part was not attracting attention（笑）.

I was wondering about that myself, so I took a quick look at some recent offers. It seems like most meetings are now scheduled for during the day or at 6:00 p.m. (I did see one at 5:30 p.m.), and I haven’t come across any of the 7:00 or 8:00 p.m. meeting times that used to be common.
I’ve heard that some restaurants close by 8:00 p.m., with last orders at 7:00, so perhaps meeting at 6:00 is now necessary if you want to have dinner.
I don’t know whether the restaurants are being reserved, but I imagine they figure that meeting at 6:00 means they can get in without a reservation.
That said, for women who work, meeting at 6:00 p.m. after work may be difficult for quite a few of them.

I sometimes hear women complain that some men don’t make restaurant reservations. However, I think most men do make reservations, so in most cases they probably look for a restaurant that’s open and book a table there.
As you said, many restaurants close at 8 p.m., so the meeting time would probably be 6 p.m., or 7 p.m. at the latest.
Just the other day, I met a woman I’ve been seeing regularly in Tokyo at 6 p.m., and we had dinner until around 8. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves. As an aside, the hotel I usually use in Tokyo was also empty.
If you’re concerned, why not ask the man through the club whether the restaurant has already been decided?
A supplement after reading Maezawa’s answer: Some restaurants take their last orders at 6 p.m. Depending on your work schedule and the meeting location, I suppose meeting at 6 p.m. can indeed be difficult.
