I’ve seen staff say that the number of offers tends to decrease during the winter. Why is that?

I’m Tetsu, a male member. Couldn’t it simply be because their schedules are packed around the year-end and New Year holidays? If they’re relatively high-status people, they probably have to attend multiple year-end parties—not only with colleagues, but also with their companies and business partners. That can really build up fatigue. This year, there will probably be far fewer year-end parties, but perhaps some people also have the unfortunate? excuse that they want to avoid close contact.

However, that’s what I’ve noticed from experience, and the sales figures show the same pattern. My guess is that some men feel less inclined to make offers when it gets cold, while others may feel more motivated to make offers in the summer. There’s also the idea that women become more open and carefree in the summer, but perhaps it’s not just women—men may become more open-minded too. P.S. I also think people are busy around the year-end and New Year holidays. Before the COVID pandemic, when we were arranging dates and checking men’s availability because the women had very few open days, I sometimes heard things like, “That day is a year-end party, and so is this day,” or that they had so many year-end parties scheduled that it was hard to find a day for a date. I imagine January is similarly busy. But then you wonder, “Why are there fewer offers in February too?” So I start thinking maybe it has something to do with the temperature… But I don’t know the real reason.

As Date Yume mentioned, men whose work gets especially busy over the year-end and New Year holidays are likely occupied, and I believe many members also return to their hometowns during this period. In addition, during past winters, colds and influenza were widespread, so I imagine people tended to avoid close contact.
