I’m a female member. I had dinner with a man once, but after communicating with him afterward, I decided it would be difficult to continue seeing him and turned him down. A few days later, he contacted me saying he couldn’t accept it without knowing what he had done wrong. What do you think is the best way to respond?

Our staff member Yokoyama here as well. Someone like that probably has a lot of pride, so I think it’s best to simply block them without saying anything. Even if you explained the situation, I get the feeling they’d only come back with something else to say. More than anything, I’d personally find it stressful and a hassle to keep dealing with someone I’d already decided was difficult to continue seeing.

Maezawa from the President’s Office here as well. Thank you for your question. Thinking only about what’s best for you, I think it would be best not to reply and simply block him. If he still calls you, please consult the club. They should at least be able to warn him. That said, the club may not fully understand the situation, so it may help to give them specific details, such as, “He keeps calling me, and it’s becoming a problem,” or “He’s sending me this many LINE messages, and I’m scared.” Some men, however, want to know what they did wrong. Even if you explain it, he may not accept it and might say something like, “I’ll fix that, so please give me another chance.” Still, you could clearly tell him what was unacceptable and then block him afterward. I do worry that he might react angrily, though. Men often want to know the reason, and some may quietly back off once they understand why.

It’s me. I guess the best approach is to use the club’s most well-known excuse: “We just didn’t click.” I’d love to say, “I don’t want to see someone who lacks the ability to figure out what they did wrong and has no desire to improve. If you want to know what makes women dislike you, ask your mom or your wife.” LOL.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. For now, I think it’s best to block him. If he keeps bothering you, you should contact the club.

I’m in Seattle. Blocking him is probably the right thing to do, but wouldn’t it help prevent others from having the same experience if you clearly listed the reasons? For reference, I’d also appreciate it if you could share here what the reasons were. Was he condescending? Did he have bad breath or body odor? Was he stingy?

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member who’s listening to a girl’s concerns about being stalked. This is never going to end, so block him. No matter what reason she gives, the LINE messages just keep coming endlessly. Whatever she says, he responds with things like, “I’m sorry,” “It was my fault,” “I just want to see you, even for a little while, and talk,” or “Can we talk on the phone… just for a bit?” He seems to be the type who won’t give up no matter how clearly she tells him, so I don’t think she needs to reply. I saw her screen and it honestly sent shivers down my spine…

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. Maybe the best move is to do a “fart and disappear”—send, “It’s that annoying side of you!” and block them immediately afterward? (^_^;)
