I had a very high-class image of Universe Club, with such an intimidatingly exclusive feel. So I assumed the male members would all be sincere, respectable gentlemen, but the man I met for the first time the other day was an ordinary, nerdy salaryman type. From beginning to end, all he talked about was dirty, sexual humor, and he made it blatantly obvious through his behavior that all he cared about was taking things to an intimate relationship. It seemed like his head was filled with nothing but sexual thoughts, and I was very disappointed. Apparently, he also frequents cabaret clubs. Since I did receive my allowance properly, I’m not really in a position to judge him, but I had imagined that the club was full of gentlemanly men. So it was a little disappointing to realize that people like the man I met—whose whole life seems to revolve around dirty jokes and cabaret clubs—are members too.

There really are certain images people have in mind, aren’t there?  
I’ll admit, I’d feel like I’d won the lottery and gone to heaven if I could find a papa like Atsuro Watabe too.

The gap between expectations and the reality of the dates

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with an ordinary, nerdy-looking salaryman, or with cabaret clubs, or with dirty jokes. But perhaps we need to reflect on the fact that the gap between people’s expectations and reality is creating more of an obstacle than the differences between men and women themselves.

So we also need to make it clear that papa-katsu is actually pretty tough—  
that papa-katsu isn’t all glamorous stories—  
that papa-katsu is a harsh world.
