Apparently, there’s going to be a feature on papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) on NHK’s “Close-Up Today” at 10:00 p.m. tonight, December 1 (according to an online search). Did they interview anyone from UC? I’m planning to record it and watch it. Sorry if I got that wrong 😅

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. I watched it too. It felt pretty different from our style of papa-katsu. For us, it’s about sticking with one partner, staying in touch every day, going on dates every other week, and providing a fixed monthly allowance. This focused, stay-the-course approach is fun and feels true to the spirit of a dating club, so I recommend it. That said, it’s probably not suited to male members who want to date lots of different women, or female members who are mainly looking to make money(笑)

Maezawa from the president’s office here, and I’ll answer as well. Thank you for your question. If there was an interview, I think the PR staff would have responded right away, so the fact that nothing was written probably means there wasn’t one. I didn’t see it, so I’m not really sure what it was about, though.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. These days, people in the media are expected to produce shows and articles that appeal to audiences with as little effort as possible. That’s why they simply pick up rumors from the internet or plagiarize articles from other outlets. I think they’re probably just exaggerating the increase in women turning to papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) to make up for lost income during COVID. I wonder if some well-known announcer might be registered with Universe Club, haha.
