Is there any point in accepting women as members if they never receive an offer?

I’m Tetsu, a male member. Apparently, some male members specifically target women who haven’t received any offers, so I think it’s necessary.

Maezawa from the President’s Office here, answering as well. Thank you for your question. The fact that you never received an offer is simply the outcome. At the time of the interview, the staff register you expecting that you’ll receive offers. There are also quite a few women who seem like they may actually have received offers, even though they didn’t pass the interview. It’s possible that you may have a good encounter somewhere else. I’m not entirely sure what you’re getting at with this question, but even a woman who hasn’t received any offers might get one tomorrow. Considering that possibility, I don’t think asking whether she’s needed or not really means much. Looking at it from another angle, the story about down comforters might be relevant. When someone first tried selling down comforters, they were so expensive that nobody bought them. So they started displaying three options: one slightly more expensive and one slightly cheaper than the original. The middle-priced comforter was actually the exact same product, at the exact same price, as the one that hadn’t sold at all before—but apparently, once presented that way, it started selling incredibly well.

I’m in Seattle. It was more fun choosing from 69 than from 48. A lot of them didn’t have any offers besides mine, either.

This is Uehara from the Tokyo branch. We’ve decided to accept you because we believe there’s potential for you to receive offers. Since every male member has different preferences, we need to accept women with a variety of looks and personalities.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I’ve heard that the interview standard is whether staff think you’re likely to receive offers. So if a woman is registered, I assume the staff judged that she has a good chance of getting offers. Even if she isn’t your type, she may be someone other men find appealing.
