Was that something written in the template from the department you applied to? If so, it isn’t useful as a basis for judging the result.
If the message came from the branch where you interviewed, being told “within a week” usually means you have a good chance of passing. The registration process may be taking some time, so please wait the full week.
When someone doesn’t pass, they apparently give a deliberately shorter timeframe, such as “if you don’t hear from us by tomorrow” or “if we don’t contact you by the end of today.”
It seems they try to make sure unsuccessful applicants don’t have to wait a full week to find out.
Also, about half of the branches now seem to notify applicants of unsuccessful results on the spot, or by email or LINE that day or the following day.
However, if you still haven’t heard anything after a week, there are rare cases where they were unable to contact someone due to a mix-up or other issue, so please contact them to confirm, just in case.
Also, if you didn’t pass, immediately reapplying probably won’t help, since the reason you were rejected is unlikely to change so quickly. You may be turned down before even reaching the interview stage.
I think it would be better to reapply after six months to a year.
Alternatively, try promoting yourself to the respondents here—please do so in the form of a question. If someone responds, “In that case, I’ll make you an offer,” contact Maezawa through the inquiry form below the question box.
Since there would then be someone willing to make you an offer, I can negotiate with the branch where you interviewed by explaining that you meet the registration criteria because you have an offer, and so on.
