It’s true that attitudes have changed, but I don’t think the percentage is necessarily that high.
I doubt 70% are completely hairless.
That’s because I think most of the women you meet are not necessarily from a group that pays close attention to grooming—especially their pubic hair.
If you include all women in general, the situation might be different.
But it’s true that your level of discomfort during your period is definitely much higher.

About 20 years ago, I was dating an ex-boyfriend who had lived abroad and said he’d dated American, Canadian, and other women while he was there.
He kept telling me that I should go completely bare, that it was normal overseas, and that no one left themselves untrimmed. But I only shaved or kept things short and tidy.
Back then, permanent hair removal in Japan was something you’d only really associate with celebrities or professionals.
More than 20 years later, Japan has finally caught up with the times, so I’m now happily keeping myself groomed that way too.
As for my thoughts or feelings on it… In my case, there’s no deep meaning, like wanting to look prettier or anything.
If anything, my ex loved women who were very natural, so it feels refreshing to have finally moved on from him.

A lot of women groom their pubic hair. If anything, it seems like fewer women leave it completely natural.
I’ve heard that, in the past, some boyfriends would shave off all of their girlfriends’ pubic hair to prevent them from cheating. I can’t really see how that would work, though (lol). I remember the days when people would stare curiously and say, “She’s completely hairless!” with a bit of nostalgia.
These days, even men groom their pubic hair, so I suppose times have changed.

In my experience, more than 90% of the women I meet through Universe do some kind of grooming. Fewer than 10% don’t groom their pubic hair. Grooming also helps prevent sweating and discomfort, and I hear it’s especially more comfortable during menstruation. Otherwise, menstrual blood can get on the pubic hair and dry there, right?
No one asked, but I leave the hair on my pubic mound and remove the rest all the way to my butt. I trim the hair I leave with a heater so the ends are rounded and don’t feel prickly. Women say it’s easier to go down on me, and I also find it more pleasurable when my balls are smooth. I started doing it after an American male friend told me over ten years ago that Asians were famous for not grooming their pubic hair（笑）

These days, grooming one’s pubic hair seems to be considered a normal part of a woman’s personal care, so I think many women do it.
There still aren’t that many, perhaps because it’s expensive, but apparently some women have even had permanent hair removal.
Women have always cared about their appearance, but I’m not sure whether people started thinking it was odd to groom every other part of the body while leaving only the pubic hair untouched, or whether it simply became fashionable somewhere along the way.
Either way, when you think about it, it could seem stranger not to groom the pubic area while taking care of the rest of your body. So I suppose it’s become the norm now.
In the past, people mainly groomed it so nothing would show when wearing a swimsuit, but I feel like that practice has simply evolved.
Though a jungle is fine too.（笑）
