Like Marika, I’m in my 40s—though I can’t exactly call myself “around 40” anymore.
I’m a little put off when someone calls me a mature woman, but I guess that starts at 40, huh?
Men twelve years older than me tell me I’m cute, cute, so I tend to forget my age. But when someone ten years younger looked me straight in the eye and said, “I want to rely on a mature woman!”
I was like, “Oh… wow…”
Reality suddenly hit me.

I guess I’m right in the middle of the “mature woman” category, huh? I feel the same way as Paper Airplane, but if someone had called me a mature woman at 38, I might’ve been a little hurt…

As for “mature women”…
I’ve always thought the term referred to women aged 40 and over, but I’m not sure what the general consensus is.
For reference, Wikipedia says a “bimajo” is 35 or older, and apparently last year’s runner-up in the Bimajo Contest was 39. However, the contest’s website says:
“After the ‘new 40s,’ the city will be filled with ‘beautiful 40s.’”
So even if we define a mature woman as someone 40 or older, I don’t think that’s too far off.
That said, if the idea that a beautiful woman among mature women is called a “bimajo” is actually completely unrelated, then my understanding of the age range may be off as well.

“Ripe woman” suggests a mature woman, doesn’t it? I don’t think it can be defined solely by age. Even in adult videos, actresses in their twenties sometimes appear as “mature women.”
