About a woman I met the other day (C-type): After dinner (I think the conversation went smoothly without any problems?), we started talking about the allowance. I offered ¥50,000, but she said ¥100,000. I was shocked, but when I proposed ¥65,000 (which was already far more than I would normally offer), she said she felt bad accepting less than what she gets from others, so I gave her transportation money and left. I’d like to ask both male and female members, as well as the staff: Was what she said true? Was it just an excuse because she didn’t want to have S〇X with me? I’ve met several women before, and aside from those who suddenly felt unwell (because they were on their period), I’ve never been turned down.

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. In that case, let’s go to karaoke or a bar and get to know each other better… Maybe a different light will shine through…

I’m Tetsu, a male member. It’s not necessarily a lie that she receives an allowance of that amount. Whether you’ve ever been turned down in the past is irrelevant when it comes to the allowance—it’s a matter of the woman’s values. If you wanted an adult relationship (intimate), then I don’t think there was any solution other than offering 100,000 yen. There’s nothing to be gained from dwelling on something that had no solution, so consider this a missed connection and look for your next new encounter.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here. I’ll answer this one too. Thank you for your question. > Is what she said really true? I definitely think it’s true. Some people receive more than 10—not just 10. When a woman becomes popular, she tends to meet better men as well. And I also believe it’s true that she feels bad accepting less from the people giving her 10. Some men also keep their allowance the same because they’d feel bad giving other women less, right? It’s the same thing.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. I’m actually in the exact opposite situation—I’m seeing someone who’s happy with a modest allowance—but I can understand that woman’s feelings very, very well. I’d feel bad accepting another woman’s offer when she’d be giving me a higher allowance than the woman I’m currently seeing. So lately, I’ve found myself unable to make any offers at all...

I’m Basil, a male member. I feel like specifying 0.5 made me come across as cheap, which may have been a mistake. If I’d just offered 7, perhaps things would have gone differently. I’m only guessing, but maybe she intended the total to be 7—0.5 for transportation plus 6.5.

Takahashi, the Kanto unit manager, would also like to respond. Thank you for your question. To be honest, as a staff member, I haven’t personally experienced how allowance negotiations typically go between the people involved, so members likely have more experience than I do, and it’s difficult for me to offer much advice. However, I have heard of women who genuinely hoped to receive a substantial allowance even for dinner only (no intimacy). Under company policy, staff aren’t allowed to get involved in financial negotiations, but it’s true that everyone has different attitudes toward money.

I’m Kazu, a male member who keeps his allowance consistent because I’d feel bad toward the women I’m seeing otherwise. I think 10 is a perfectly realistic amount. She probably happened to have a papa (a male supporter) who offered her 10. You won’t know whether it was just an excuse unless you actually offer 10, but if she were turning you down over the allowance amount, she’d probably say 30 or 50. As for haggling over it, 6.5 feels overly nitpicky—even to me, as a man—and comes across as rather disappointing.
