Maybe you should think again about why you want to do a Magikarp kiss in the first place. I honestly don’t understand wanting to do it even knowing there’s a high chance of being disliked for it.
Are you saying you’re looking for one of the women—perhaps one in a thousand, though I have no basis for that estimate—who actually wants to be given a Magikarp kiss?

I think that expression is describing the unpleasantness of having someone’s face covered in saliva, and of having something done to you purely according to the other person’s desires, without any consideration for your feelings.
So as long as you’re not making the woman uncomfortable, there’s no problem. To play it safe, I’d say you can initiate things, but limit yourself to closed-mouth kisses, and let her take the lead beyond that. Just like Mac the Kiss Maguro.

Is there really a “right” way to kiss?
Honestly, I don’t think there’s a single right answer—not just when it comes to kissing, but with relationships between men and women or almost anything else in life. If there were one correct answer, everyone would only do the “right” thing, wouldn’t they?
If I had to define one, I’d say a kiss is right when both people are enjoying it.
Even Magikarp-style kissing is perfectly fine as long as you’re both having a good time. In fact, when things heat up with the woman I’m currently seeing, we both turn into Magikarp.
