I've been seeing my papa under a fake name that's different from my club name, but we've gotten much closer than I expected—close enough that I feel like I should tell him my real name. I'm torn between continuing to use the fake name and coming clean. I'm worried I might lose his trust.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here. Thank you for your question. > I’m worried that I’ll lose his trust. If this is enough to make him lose trust in you, then you haven’t really grown close yet. If you were truly close, he wouldn’t care about your name. I don’t think you need to worry about it—just continue seeing him as you have been. That said, it could be tricky if the man has started asking, “So, when are you going to tell me your real name?” If things are going well, you could tell him, but there’s always a chance he might become a stalker after you break up, so I think it may be better to keep things as they are for now. As for using a fake name in addition to your club name, I don’t see anything wrong with that either. When the time comes to get married, you could simply say, “I’m sorry, but there’s something I need to tell you…” Other than marriage, I don’t think there’s any real need for him to know your real name.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. Precisely because you’re close, it’s best not to share your real name. I think it’s important to build trust in ways that don’t depend on that. Of course, you should also think about what happens after the relationship ends.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. I don’t see any problem with not using your real name. I don’t think most people would care. On the other hand, if a man insists on knowing your real name, I’d find that unsettling because I wouldn’t know what he was thinking. In my case, if we’re taking a flight, I’ll let her know that using a fake name could mean she might not be covered in the event of an emergency. I explain any potential disadvantages of using a false name and let her decide for herself.

I’m Hikōki, a male member. As for my real name? Unless it’s something unusual, I’ll have forgotten it by tomorrow anyway. These days, packages are delivered just fine even if you use an alias. You can even get a credit card from a luxury brand store under a false name. Either way is fine with me, and I just use my real name whenever necessary, so it’s not a problem at all—like when looking for a new place to live, opening a shop, or getting an annual pass.

I’m Flaren, a male member! Yes, I’ve come across someone like that. But when she first told me her name, I already thought, “That might be an alias.” So even when she later told me her real name, I didn’t think anything of it. It’s perfectly natural to have several layers of protection around your personal information.
