Thank you for your question.
> A late-night meal, allowance, karaoke, etc. with a female member
I’m not quite sure what you mean by giving her an allowance after the late-night meal. Do you mean you gave her money beyond the token transportation fee?
And karaoke after giving her the allowance?
Plus, what does “etc.” include???
If this all happened on the very first day, you may have gone a little too far. For a meal only, the guideline is about two hours.
If you’re saying you also paid an allowance for the time spent at karaoke, that changes things somewhat. However, when you’re only giving transportation expenses on the first meeting, you’re generally expected to wrap things up after two hours. Otherwise, there’s a high chance she’ll feel uncomfortable.
That’s why we provide a guideline. I believe we explain it as two separate two-hour time frames.
> She immediately sent me a thank-you email saying she had a great time.
Even if she wasn’t enjoying herself, you made time for her, treated her to a meal, and gave her transportation expenses. So sending a thank-you email as a matter of courtesy is only natural.
Apparently, some women occasionally don’t send thank-you emails, but most of the time the men complain that they don’t even know basic manners.
So a thank-you email is just that: a thank-you. It doesn’t necessarily mean she wants to continue seeing you.
If she didn’t reply, you should assume she isn’t interested and avoid contacting her again.
After all, compatibility matters between people. It’s also possible that your appearance or grooming was an issue.
I think you should first have someone check whether your grooming gives a clean and well-kept impression. (Though it’s probably not a problem.)
Other possibilities include your conversation skills or the way you asked her out…
As for how to get yourself checked, Flagmaker’s consultation service was intended for women, but they might accept men too if you ask(笑). Why not contact them just in case?
There’s no harm in trying(笑)

I’m Paper Airplane, the male member who went to a bar, then karaoke, then a hotel yesterday with Kimo Niku Dango Reiro—and neither of us sang a single song at karaoke.
I’d just leave things as they are and not bother sending him any more messages. If he’s interested, he’ll contact you.
P.S. Since karaoke rooms are completely private, they’re surprisingly convenient for having important conversations.

I’m Basil, a male member.
That happens pretty often.
I assume she was either just being polite, or waiting to see how another offer turned out. Either way, I probably didn’t make much of an impression.
I’ll send one more casual email, just in case. If she doesn’t reply, I’ll take it as a sign she’s not interested and won’t pursue it any further.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer.
I have a few personal rules I follow. Basically, if a ball I’ve thrown—an email or LINE message—doesn’t come back, I don’t throw another one.
If it really bothers me, I wait at least three weeks before reaching out again.
It’s just a personal rule of mine.

I’m Tetsu, a male member.
If it were me, I’d just leave her and move on.
When someone you care about or consider important contacts you—even if you’re busy with work—you usually respond as soon as you can. If they don’t reply promptly, either they’re not that interested in you, or they’re simply terrible at handling an adult relationship. It’s possible they overlooked your message, but I think it’s better to assume they’ve decided to cut things off.
Waiting will only cause you unnecessary stress, so I’d suggest quickly looking for your next partner. If she does contact you later, you can decide then, depending on how you feel, whether to continue or end things.

I’m a lost 60-something.
For my first setup, was it too much to ask for dinner, an allowance (adult time?), and karaoke?
I emailed her because I didn’t want her to complain to the club that she hadn’t received any thanks, but I get the feeling she’s saying goodbye because I’m an exhausting man to deal with.
For a first meeting, perhaps it’s best to either wrap things up casually or make a straightforward invitation, depending on her type.
