I’m not sure how to take it when my papa says things like “I like you” or “I love you” in his messages or during our time together, and it’s been bothering me. I assume he says the same things to other girls, too. Don’t you ever wish they’d stop because it gives you the wrong idea? Or do you think they might actually mean it? Men can say “I like you” or “I love you” so easily, even when they don’t mean it, right? How do the women here respond? Am I the only one who overthinks this much…?

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. I wonder if that “I like you” or “I love you” isn’t just part of his selfish attempt to get by without paying an allowance. As Papuwa said, unless he explicitly says something like “Please be my partner,” I think it’s fine to take those words at face value and not read too much into them.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here—I’ll answer this one too. Thanks for your question. You’re overthinking it. The fact that you’re thinking this deeply means you’re a serious and conscientious person, which is a very good thing. But no matter how much you think about it, you won’t arrive at a conclusion, so you should stop thinking about it so much. How about looking at it this way? You’re an actress. A date with a man is a stage where you perform as an actress. If he tells you he likes you, that’s part of the performance. But you have to act as though it’s genuine, so the person watching won’t realize it’s just acting. And the person watching is actually the man you’re with. Give him the performance of a lifetime.

I’m Fulleren, a male member! Rather than being a matter of whether it’s true or false, I think it’s simply one way of expressing yourself. Just kissing normally feels a little lacking, so it’s like kissing with words. I don’t say it out loud, but that’s how I feel inside.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. You already understand how men operate, don’t you? (lol) There’s no point in worrying over comments like that, and it won’t do you any good emotionally either. Instead, why not turn those comments around and find a way to enjoy watching men squirm? That might be better for your mental well-being.

I’m in Seattle. You can say it in the sense of “like,” but if you mean “love,” it would be strange not to focus on just one person, right? It’s probably meant as “like,” so try putting him on notice with, “Don’t say that unless you mean it—I might take you seriously.”
