Maezawa here. As you said, I agree that it would be great to have videos like that. In fact, we once discussed filming them that way at all our branches. But when we actually tried it, it turned out to be extremely difficult. I’m sorry to make excuses, but even something as simple as walking and turning was just too difficult to pull off. First of all, we couldn’t keep the subject in focus. The moment the woman started walking, the footage became blurry. Even if we focused on her when she started walking, the focus would shift as soon as she moved. And indoors, there’s also the issue of limited space—the shooting distance becomes a problem after just a few steps. I’ve heard that professional video crews have another person dedicated solely to focusing, and the footage gets so blurry that I really started to understand why an extra person might be necessary. Of course, with enough practice, perhaps you could learn to adjust the focus while changing the camera’s direction and matching the woman’s walking speed—but I gave up ＞＜ You might be thinking, “Why not use autofocus?” Unfortunately, because of our equipment, the autofocus wasn’t really usable either. In the videos, we do try to capture the woman from head to toe, so I believe you can usually see her full body. I hope you’ll also check her figure using the still photos. Perhaps we’ll be able to make it happen someday when equipment capable of continuously focusing on a walking subject becomes available. The question is when that kind of equipment will be released at a realistic price. Still, after seeing this, maybe one of our staff members who’s confident in their skills will take on the challenge with our current equipment. I’m looking forward to that possibility.
