Mamiya from Universe Tokyo here. Some people really do say the funniest things (lol). If someone like that says something that rubs me the wrong way, I’m not the type to take it personally—in fact, I usually find it amusing! Some people may naturally be more likely to have things said to them, or make others feel comfortable saying them. But please don’t blame yourself. You’re probably a very compassionate person, so be confident in that. By staying positive and making the most of it, I believe it can lead to new and different encounters.

Maezawa from the President’s Office here. I thought it would be something more like a typical blood-type personality test, but this is pretty intense. In this case, it’s clearly something you can say is completely different, so I’m more curious about how the conversation even got there. Maybe you were expecting it to go something like: “You’re not very tight.” “That’s not true.” “Then maybe we should find out.” Was that the route you had in mind? Though it seems more likely that things wouldn’t go in that direction. In a case like this, it feels a bit much, so I think it would be better to have them write it in the offer after the date.

I’m Kazu, a male member. You really do see all kinds of things in this world. That comment was far more offensive than I would have imagined. I mean, how could someone think it was okay to say that to a person they supposedly wanted to date? As the other respondents have said, maybe they thought it was funny. I honestly can’t come up with any other explanation. Make sure to give the club some feedback about it in the post-date survey, haha.

I’m Flagmaker, a column writer. If you take his words at face value, he sounds like a terrible person—but don’t you think he probably said it because he thought it would get a laugh? If so, then rather than being an idiot, he’s more accurately someone with no sense of humor—or someone who’s simply insensitive. Actually, there are quite a few people like this among those with a certain amount of status. That’s because the people around them are considerate enough to laugh along. They end up getting the wrong idea. In a sense, they’re monsters created by a hierarchical society. So it’s not that you attract idiots; there are just a certain number of people like this among those in positions of authority, and unfortunately, you happened to run into one. If anything, you’re probably more likely to encounter them at a dating club than in everyday life. Anyway, don’t be more pessimistic than the facts warrant—just let it go in one ear and out the other. If I’d been there, I would’ve called him out nonstop, though. No matter how important someone is, I show no mercy when it comes to humor, haha.
