I often use “You seem like you’d be popular with papas, don’t you?” during interviews, too. “Oh, I get told that a lot, but even when someone likes me, they’re never my type—it’s popularity gone to waste.” How about steering the conversation toward, “I wonder what I could do to make you like me”?
