In my case, I used to say six months.
Based on my experience, it seemed that even people who didn’t receive an offer at first would generally get one after about six months. If they still hadn’t received an offer after six months, they often wouldn’t receive one afterward either.
Of course, I’ve heard of people getting an offer a year later, but I don’t think there were any among those I was responsible for.
That said, I do think some effort is necessary.
