It was probably more than a year ago, but when THE SALON was just getting started, no one thought it would work out.
Even now, we’re still taking baby steps and are far from calling it a success. But launching a new business is truly difficult—it’s a major project, whether or not you have professional experience, and I believe it comes with more risks than anything else.
At the time, we also had ambitions of taking our business overseas, developing apps, and becoming the world’s leading matching platform, including matchmaking services. That was the vision we had for the Universe Group.
If Universe launches a completely new service in the future, I suppose it will be after things settle down with COVID. We probably have plenty of dreams and things we’d love to do, but for now, we’re trying to read the mood of society.
For the time being, we’re developing systems to automate whatever we can in order to improve customer satisfaction.
We’ve been tasked with focusing on the services that only people can provide.

That said, even if there were such a thing, I imagine it would normally be treated as highly confidential—important enough that leaking it could result in disciplinary action, like information you’re not even allowed to tell your family.
I understand the appeal of aspiring to a high-end service, but Universe also seems to have some wonderful female members.

As someone from Osaka, I don’t want to admit that Tokyo is better at anything. But even with that bias, I have to say that Tokyo is probably one or two tiers above Kansai. To create something comparable in Kansai, we’d need more female members—and the overall level would need to come a little closer to that of the Kanto area.
It pains me to say it, but compared with Kansai, the women in Kanto are considerably more attractive.
That said, I’m only talking about looks. When it comes to personality and charm, Kansai may not lose out at all.
