I recently started going to a hair-removal salon.
It’s gradually getting thinner, but assuming I make my whole body completely smooth, would men generally prefer the V-line (pubic hair) to be completely smooth as well?
Personally, I think completely smooth sounds nice, but it seems some men don’t like it.
I’d like to ask the men I’m seeing, but I’m somehow too embarrassed to bring it up…

I’m in my 40s, but when I was in my 20s, a man I’d been seeing long-term lived overseas and dated foreign women. Even back then, he kept implying that all foreign women groomed themselves and that I should be completely hairless.
I feel that Japan has finally, 20 years later, entered an era where ordinary people routinely groom themselves.
That said, you hardly ever see anyone completely hairless at hot springs, and younger women may travel with their families. They’ll likely have innocent romantic relationships with men their own age, not just with seasoned men from dating clubs.
Thinking about that, I feel it’s probably best to keep things neatly trimmed without going completely hairless. If I were in my 20s, that’s what I would do. You can always remove it later.
There are a few people who prefer things completely natural and thick, though.
As an aside, many foreign men groom themselves too.

I’ve written about the “smooth” issue in one of my columns before, so I hope you don’t mind me weighing in.
Personally, I like smooth, but I wouldn’t say I’m particularly fixated on it. What surprised even me was that, looking back, every girl I’ve had an after-dinner relationship with was smooth—though admittedly, the sample size is small. I like being at the mercy of beautiful women, but I feel like I’ve finally figured out why my relationships never work out.

I once spoke with a male member who said:
“I don’t like women with no pubic hair because they seem like professionals.”
By “professionals,” I assume he meant women who work in the adult entertainment industry, where having no pubic hair may be the norm.
That said, this is just one person’s opinion, and I don’t think many men are that particular about it. They may have their preferences, but I don’t feel it would affect the relationship.
You could also ask the man you’re seeing directly.

Recently, I hadn’t met any women who hadn’t groomed themselves, but the 20-year-old woman I offered to meet the other day was completely natural.
She looked so pure and beautiful, but when I undressed her, she turned out to be quite hairy. I found it a little exciting, though I did wonder whether it would be difficult to go down on her.
So I think whether to go completely smooth or leave some hair is a matter of preference, but I do feel things are easier when she’s groomed.
I’m thinking of suggesting a shaving session to her next time and maybe helping her go for hair removal.
Why not ask the men you meet what they prefer?

It’s a shame that so many women at clubs are completely smooth.
If possible, I prefer women who still have some hair.
Until now, I’d never encountered a completely smooth woman outside of adult entertainment or clubs, so when we meet, it does cross my mind for a moment…
I feel that having a moderate amount looks more natural.

I prefer women who have all their natural hair—underarm hair, nipple hair, leg hair, arm hair, and pubic hair. Yes, I know I’m in the minority.
