I’m Saito, the columnist. Please send me an offer request. LOL If we meet, I might be able to talk with you about why you haven’t been able to reach seven or eight. That said, we’re currently in a period of voluntary restraint, and your location may also be a factor, so I’m not sure how much help I can be. Basically, all you need is for two or three people to really like you. Remember Kanae Kijima? She was supposedly very overweight and unattractive, but she still managed to collect a huge amount of money from people...

Maezawa from the Corporate Planning Office here as well. As for name recognition… Sure, if we’re talking about someone fairly well-known in the entertainment industry, they could probably command 200,000–300,000 yen, not just 70,000–80,000 yen. But people like that likely wouldn’t need to ask here whether they could get a decent allowance in the first place. So while name recognition is important, I’m not sure how much influence it has when we’re talking about the level of recognition most people generally have. So what does make a difference? First of all, appearance. That largely determines whether you receive offers. Then there’s the conversation and mannerisms during the date (over a meal). If the man likes those things about you, your allowance will go up, so I feel that 70,000–80,000 yen should be quite realistic. But perhaps the most important factor is your luck with men. At Universe, there are hardly any women earning around 70,000–80,000 yen who are struggling financially or unable to make ends meet. And yet, for some reason, there are a lot of stingy men. If they can afford to pay but choose not to, that’s being stingy, right? (笑) Then they come up with all kinds of excuses to justify themselves, saying things like, “Your value is only about this much,” or “This is the going rate.” There’s really no basis for any of it. Saying all sorts of baseless things is simply making excuses. Ideally, all a man needs to do is listen to what the woman wants and decide whether he’s okay with it or not. There aren’t many male members who don’t make excuses like that and simply pay the amount the woman requests, but they definitely do exist. In the end, the most important thing is whether you can meet one of those men. They say luck is part of ability, and that certainly seems true.

I’m a male member in Seattle. If she negotiates from the very first meeting, her reputation doesn’t matter—it’s just an act to appear demure. If she asks for more money after things have continued, then she’s pretending to have fallen for the man.
