If you’re not confident, now may be a good time to apply for an interview, since the number of women interviewing has started to decline. (More precisely, it’s only beginning to decrease, so it might be better to wait until it drops a little further.) When a lot of women are interviewing, staff tend to raise their standards. Since so many women are coming in, rejecting a few doesn’t make much difference. But as the number of women interviewing decreases, even women who would normally be rejected by a narrow margin may decide to register, thinking they might receive an offer. From that perspective, the best opportunity is when fewer women are going to interviews. It’s impossible to predict exactly when interviews will be at their lowest, but the numbers are already gradually declining, so applying for an interview now might not be a bad idea. That said, for women who are confident in their looks, I think it’s better to apply during a period when offers are actively being made. However, attractive women tend to receive plenty of offers even when the overall number of offers is low, so in the end, I have a feeling the timing may not matter much for them.
