To Universe Club and its members: What do you think about mama-katsu?

I’m Meg, a female member who’s far from being a glamorous mature woman. I can’t imagine Mr. Kida, who has made papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) this successful, hasn’t considered mama-katsu. I’m sure he’s already working on a concept for it (lol). But yes, it probably wouldn’t be profitable just yet. ① Host clubs They feel far too exclusive to certain wealthy ladies. ② Outcall sensual massages They’re too expensive compared with services like delivery health massage. And officially, they can’t go all the way, which would probably leave wives even more frustrated. So there needs to be some kind of ③. It would have to be affordable enough for ordinary housewives in their 30s to 50s to pay the setup fee. Even then, when you factor in the allowance men would give women, the rates would probably have to be drastically lower. And would there really be young men willing to deal with frustrated mature women, even for a low allowance? How many women would want to do something like that despite the risk of being recognized? It sounds like it would require some seriously tedious market research... Makes you want to say, “Somebody else do it” (^_^;) Sorry, that was just a housewife thinking out loud.

This is Saito, the columnist ♪ I’m guessing it would be a huge amount of work for very little revenue... lol Considering the number of host clubs, snack bars, cabaret clubs, and nightclubs—and their relative proportions—I’d say it’s probably less than 1/100 of that. (Of course, it’s definitely not zero.) Based on the projected sales, it would be difficult unless hosts and traveling hosts expanded dramatically. That said, once the market has matured, even if things move at the second-slowest pace, I think Universe’s name recognition would be enough to handle it. That’s just my own wild speculation, though.

I don’t know what Universe Club’s view is, but at the moment, the only setting where wealthy women—or “madams,” if you will—spend money on men seems to be host clubs. Outside of that, the general expectation appears to be that men pay. With that in mind, I feel mama-katsu won’t really take off unless a culture develops where women are willing to pay to go on dates with men, even on dating sites. I wonder when that culture will emerge. When it does, mama-katsu may become a viable option, but for now, I don’t think we’re there yet.
