I’m registered as Type B. Do I have to have an adult relationship (intimate) on the second date? I was thinking the third date might be better.

Maezawa from the Business Planning Office here as well. I think one of the good things about Universe Club is that both men and women have the right to say no. The dating types simply indicate how proactive the woman is. Dating Type B means she is proactive enough that an adult relationship (intimate) may be possible from the second meeting onward. That doesn’t mean it has to happen on the second meeting. It could be any number of meetings—but if we say “from the second meeting onward,” someone might argue, “The 100th meeting is also after the second, isn’t it?” That’s not what we mean. That would be Dating Type A. With that in mind, for Type B, around the second or third meeting seems to be a reasonable guideline. If you’re thinking the third meeting, then Type B should be fine.

I’m a male member, Basil. For me, starting from the third meeting is within my acceptable range. I make decisions quickly, so even with a Type B arrangement, I try to decide where things are headed when we meet for the first or second time, if possible. If meeting after dinner isn’t a must from that point onward—or from the next meeting—I move on from her. Technically, the rules may allow for more time. But when I first started, I ended up stuck in dinner-only arrangements several times, so I make “the beginning is crucial” my golden rule.

I’m Flag Maker, a columnist. I think the third date should be fine too. That said, some men take agreeing to a second date as a sign that an adult relationship (intimate) is on the table, while others may invite you to one simply as a matter of etiquette. Keeping that in mind when you respond should help avoid misunderstandings. > Mack-san > I understand the whole abstinence thing. By coincidence, I was talking with a foodie friend I had dinner with last week about what delicious food we should try next. In the end, we concluded that what matters more than what you eat is being in the right condition to really enjoy it. So we decided to hit the sauna before dinner, work up a sweat, and build up an appetite. I wonder if sex works the same way. Would it be like abstaining for a week, going to a men’s esthetic salon, and then getting intimate? lol

I’m a male member, Hikōki. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to plan on waiting until the third meeting or later. It seems many men start asking for an adult relationship (intimate) from the second meeting onward, which can sometimes lead to things ending or causing problems. If she’s more of a C-type, then two or three meetings may be fine. But otherwise, it’s completely okay to wait until the fourth or fifth—or even the seventh or eighth—meeting, once she herself feels ready. That said, if there’s no sign of progress or genuine feelings being conveyed, a man may not be able to keep meeting that many times. So it’s important for both of you to communicate your feelings, spend time getting closer, and make sure you’re on the same page. For a man looking for a B-type arrangement, if she’s ready after only two or three meetings, he may feel that she would do the same with anyone, which can make things a little questionable. In the end, he may think, “So she’s basically a C-type after all.”
