It sounds like you still haven’t been able to forget your ex.
Perhaps you couldn’t lie to yourself about your feelings, and you broke down because you felt sorry toward the person you’re seeing now.
> He noticed that I seemed down when we met and asked me several times, quite seriously, what was wrong.
Maybe you felt that he would somehow accept your feelings?
If you had been thinking, “How annoying that he keeps asking,” I don’t think you would have written it this way.
After seeing each other for more than a year and a half, he must have come to understand you quite well.
The fact that he asked anyway and was so disappointed probably means that he cares about you very deeply.
He wants you to look only at him. You’re lucky to have met someone like that.
For now, try to focus your feelings on the person in front of you. (Although I imagine you probably already are.)
As you do, the painful memories will gradually fade.

As long as I felt she was answering honestly, I’d have a good impression of her. Let’s sincerely face the person you’re seeing now. It’s in the past, so I don’t think I’d worry about it too much.

> It seems the other person was quite disappointed. Would it be difficult to return to the way things were before?
It’s hard to say without knowing the circumstances, but from the papa’s perspective, he may have simply thought, “That was a bit awkward,” at the time.
When you meet again, he may not be bothered by it at all. Try messaging him casually, as if nothing happened:
“When can we meet next?”
You might get a reply.

Ideally, talking about an ex is something you’d rather avoid—and even more so when it leads to tears.
And it doesn’t sound like those were tears shed out of affection for someone dear to her, either.
As Mac-san wrote, I think many men misunderstand tears, so it may really depend on the man in question.
If it’s a transactional relationship through the club, is it okay not to worry about it too much?

You’re a female member, correct?
I think you can return to the way things were. It seems there are still plenty of ways for both of you to make things right.
